Real butter
Pasteurized cream, milk, and a little salt. The base of the scratch doughs and batters.
What’s inside
Poppy & Blue keeps ingredient lists short enough to read out loud. Every bake carries a “Made in a Home Kitchen” label with the full statement—here is what goes into it, and why.
The short answer
Real dairy butter—cream, milk, salt—is the fat our scratch doughs and batters are built on: the cookies, the scones, the cakes, the quick breads. No shortening, no margarine. A few recipes—the brownies, a bar or two—also use a little olive or other oil, and that is printed on their labels.
The pantry
Pulled straight from the bakery’s own product labels. Our scratch recipes stay close to a home-kitchen pantry. Where a bake uses a store-bought mix-in—sandwich cookies, candy pieces, toffee—that component brings its own ingredients, and the full statement is printed on every label.
Pasteurized cream, milk, and a little salt. The base of the scratch doughs and batters.
Folded into the scones for a tender, flaky crumb instead of a dry one.
Real vanilla bean extract—never imitation vanillin—in the doughs and the icings.
All-purpose flour milled from hard red wheat with a touch of malted barley for colour and a faint sweetness.
Granulated cane sugar for structure, brown sugar for chew and a soft molasses note.
Fresh lemon and poppy seeds in the scones; freeze-dried strawberries, mango, banana, and apple across the range.
Chocolate chips and chunks made with cocoa butter and real chocolate—not “chocolate-flavoured” coating.
Whole eggs, aluminum-free baking powder, and salt. That is close to the whole list.
A note on oils. Butter is the fat in the scratch recipes. The brownies and the brown-sugar pop-tart bar also use a little olive or canola oil, and mix-ins like sandwich cookies, toffee, and candy pieces contain their own oils. Every one of those is spelled out on the bake’s label.

Read the label
Every bake is sold with a “Made in a Home Kitchen” label listing the full ingredient statement and the allergens it contains—like the scone label above. Nothing is hidden behind a marketing word.
Common allergens across the range: wheat, milk, and eggs; some bakes also contain soy from chocolate. Everything is made in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, and tree nuts.
